JACK NUTS THREADED INSERTS
A blind fastener for use in thin, soft or brittle materials, these installed into a pre-drilled hole just slightly larger than the diameter of the nut, the front face or flange should sit flush with the surface of the material.
Using a setting tool the body collapses to form four separate wings which grip the blind side of the material, similar to a rivet. It is possible to set the nuts by tightening a screw into the nut but this can be dificult as the nut is inclined to spin in the hole, using a setting tool is far easier.
These nuts provide a strong, captive, permanent reusable thread in thin material and can be used with wood, drywall, thin sheet metal, plastics, composites, glass, fibreglass and ceramics.
Large front flange face and wide wings means these nuts are tolerant of oversized holes.
Minimum screw length calculated by adding Jack Nut body length to thickness of materials being attached.
Often referred to as Spyder Nuts.
